Holidays to Aruba

Aruba holidays are a dreamy, tropical blend of Caribbean calm, captivating landscapes and delicious international dishes. Heads up: constant smiles are incoming.

Quintessential Caribbean beaches

Aruba is known as One Happy Island, and you’ll be One Happy Holidaymaker with 40 incredible beaches to cram into your island escape.

Aruba does paradise very well. But there’s something about Eagle Beach – it’s regularly named the best beach in the Caribbean, and among the world’s top beaches. For something a bit more local and chill, why not go snorkelling with the fish off Mangel Halto, or visit some of the island’s ethereal secluded coves.

Crazy cacti and wonderful wildlife

A wee visit to Arikok National Park is a must on Aruba holidays. We’re talking rough, fun terrain, hikes along the dunes and scintillating views across the sweeping desert.

Check out the unspoiled wonder of the Fontein Caves, amble up to the commanding California Lighthouse, walk the natural sea bridge and dive into a famous natural pool, where you can tread water and watch waves crash just across the way.

Natural wonders at every turn

Aruba’s seriously striking landscapes are just begging to be explored, so get your hiking boots on and head up the volcano-formed Hooiberg (aka Haystacks Mountain) for a wicked view across the island. Or save your steps and rent an ATV to check out the island’s off-road magic.

Meanwhile, beautiful Eagle Beach is home to a famous fofoti tree with a twisted trunk reaching out to the Caribbean blues. When Mother Nature serves up jaw-dropping natural art like this, it would be rude not to take a picture.

Ultimate food fusion

A holiday to Aruba is essentially a global food tour. Journey from traditional Dutch nosh to popular South American dishes mixed with African influence, Spanish tapas and Asian fusion cuisine. Local faves like karni stoba (beef stew) and the rich keshi yena (stuffed cheese) are a must, and there are some cracking upmarket steakhouses and the freshest seafood restaurants on the shores of the Caribbean Sea.

Sitting over the seas, Zeerovers is elite for today’s catch of mahi-mahi and red snapper by the kilo. Hit Lima Bistro to make memories over a Peruvian dinner or grab a quick bite from the colourful San Nicolas kitchens among the neighbourhood’s cool murals. The bars truly come alive as the orange sun dips.

Top beaches in Aruba

Aruba’s beaches are silly special, so bathe the day away at Eagle Beach, explore cool caves near Boca Grandi or hit Palm Beach if you’re in the mood for some high-octane watersports. And no-one puts Baby (Beach) in the corner – picture classic rum cruises, lazy catamaran pootles and zenned out paddleboard yoga.

For real once-in-a-lifetime stuff, Aruba Atlantis Submarine Expeditions has a sub tour that takes you down to old shipwrecks and colourful coral reefs. No snorkel required!

Wildlife and waterslides

From horseback riding across silky sands to stops at the Donkey Sanctuary and Butterfly Farm, Aruba is full of awesome activities for the whole fam.

The island’s bigger resorts cater to children, with lazy rivers and waterslides, or you can bodyboard all day on the perfectly peeling waves of Arashi Beach. And you’ll find an arcade packed with games at Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino’s Bon Bini Kids Club. Air hockey, anyone?

Aruba nightlife

The night hots up as the burning sun sets behind the horizon. Bask in the Caribbean rhythms of dance club carnivals and beach parties. If you fancy a sit down, try your luck at Palm Beach casinos or hop aboard a multi-coloured, open-air party bus – Aruba is famous for them!

Aruba’s music festivals also attract big-name artists every year. The Aruba Soul Beach Music Festival is a total vibe, and Love Festival Aruba brings all the electronic energy, so check out what’s on as you plan your trip.

When to go to Aruba

Peak season is mid-December to mid-April, with scorching temperatures that will call for your strongest sun cream. Meanwhile, January’s Carnival buzzes with colourful costumes, and the Tivoli Lighting Parade, usually in February, is a tropical treat.

Shoulder season’s still busy from mid-April to August, but the crowds are less dense. May’s Soul Beach Music Festival is prime time for a shimmy and a shake, plus plenty of comedy around the island.

Hurricanes can roll in during Caribbean storm season (June to November), but don’t let that put you off a low-season visit from September onwards, as it’s cheaper, quieter and still a dreamy place to be.
