Choose a holiday to Punta Cana to enjoy one of the finest stretches of Caribbean coastline – think warm seas, white sands and boutiquey beachfront resorts!
There’s beachy beauty and then there’s Punta Cana’s beachy beauty. Twinkling turquoise waves, sugar-soft sand and coconut palms are all standard here. With your beauty basics guaranteed, why not kick it up a notch?
Hop in the saddle at Playa Macao to dip a hoof (or four) in the Atlantic and take in those heavenly hues on the back of a trusty steed. Or swap horses for hawksbills and head for the turtle sanctuary on the dreamy Saona Island, just a short boat ride away.
Leaving Punta Cana’s stunning beaches behind is no easy task. But there’s a world of history and culture to explore in Punta Cana, as well as all that sun, sea and sand. So, take a day away from the bay and make for Santo Domingo.
Also known as the Colonial City, this super-colourful World Heritage Site was the first European-built city in the Americas. Check out the Alcazar de Colon (a stunning palace), Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación (the oldest existing Cathedral in the Americas) and Columbus Park.
There’s no shortage of sublime spots for breakfast, lunch and dinner in Punta Cana. But to really get your feet under the table in the Dominican Republic, there are some goods you need to try straight from the source.
Lace up your drinking boots and get on over to Oliver & Oliver – a family-owned artisanal rum producer – to taste your way through the island’s finest rums. Then, head to La Esmeralda Chocolate Factory, where you can make your own chocolate bar.
Best for... Caribbean luxury with a dash of history ☀️
Go... To Saona Island to walk into picture-perfect paradise 🏝️
You have to... Swim in the ridiculously refreshing waters of Scape Park 🌊

The best time to drop into the Dominican Republic isn't always at the height of summer. While there’s no doubt you belong on the beach in the 30C-plus heat of July and August, high humidity can make this season a little uncomfortable.
So, why not go for the 25C-ish temps between January and April instead? This way you can enjoy perfect beach weather, without having to wring out your t-shirt twice a day! Meanwhile, the still-sizzling shoulder season months of May, June, November and December are your best bet for a cheap holiday to Punta Cana.
