Beautiful sandy beach in Belek on a bright summer day

Holidays to Belek

Belek holidays in Turkey (now known as Türkiye) offer a whole lotta sun, a whole lotta beach time and, from golf and rollercoasters to ancient ruins, a whole lotta fun. The Turkish Riviera awaits!

Lap of luxury

Fancy a fancy break? Hop on over to Belek for a taste of the high life. There are plenty of four- and five-star hotels and top-notch resorts offering sumptuous experiences here (Rixos Premium Belek and Bellis Deluxe Hotel to name a couple). And if you compare deals and book in advance, none of it has to make your wallet or purse sweat, either!

Golf-ore it!

If golf (and not football) is life, you’re going to love Belek – it’s positively loopy for the sport! The five-star Maxx Royal Belek Golf Resort is ideal if all you want to do is play golf, with plenty for your non-golfing companions to do while you’re on the green. If you’re going solo like Derulo, you can pick from a heap of courses including Cornelia Golf Club and Lykia Links Golf Club Belek, which throws in some lovely views of the Med.

And breathe…

Soaking up the sun on Belek’s sweeping beach with a Turkish Delight Martini (yes, it’s a real thing) is a surefire way to unwind and forget about your to-do list back home. Another is to spend afternoons (plural) in a spa offering the full Turkish works – think marble hammams, heated saltwater pools and total-body treatments. Lush!

For the day trippers

Is it high time for some retail therapy? Take a day trip to Antalya’s Old District for a day of shopping in its boutiques and at the Iki Kapilar Hani bazaar. In summer, add the ancient Aspendos amphitheatre’s music and dance shows to your day trip list.

Beautiful Belek beaches

Belek has 16km (10 miles) of sandy, shingley beach for you to sunbathe, swim or sip cocktails by the sea. Elsewhere, many of its hotels have private areas where you can catch 20 winks on a sun-lounger or a squashy Bali bed. Up for some action? Watersports are dotted along the sands at Belek, with everything from jet-skis to banana boats and paragliding. You can also get your scuba on here, diving down to see turtles, fish and maybe even dolphins.

Ancient ruins galore

From Belek, you’re a short drive from the ancient city of Perge, where you can spend a morning (when it’s cooler) mooching ruins like the enormous Roman Gate, baths and amphitheatre. Can’t get enough history? Take a trip to Side’s ancient ruins, which include a 2nd-century Antique Theatre. For a more immersive cultural experience, spend part of your Saturday haggling for souvenirs and clothes at Belek’s weekly bazaar.

Family-friendly Belek

From long stretches of sand with shallow waters to hotels with crowd-pleasing activities, facilities and rooms, Belek holidays are super duper family-friendly. The resort is also home to The Land of Legends Theme Park, where you can go on rides with wacky names like Hyper Coaster, Up Town Loop and Hurricane, and enjoy experiences that include wild river rides and underwater shark-spotting walks (cool diver helmet included).

When to go to Belek

July and August are the best months for baking on the beach, with average temperatures hovering close to 30C. You’re pretty much guaranteed rain-free days, al fresco cocktails and a warm sea for swimming.

To avoid the peak summer crowds and enjoy comparably cheap Belek holidays, visit in May, June or September when rainfall remains minimal and temperatures hover around a swimsuit-friendly 25C. It’s also perfect for exploring historical sites like Perge and playing golf with the sunshine standing to order.
