If you’re without a car, take the resort road train to the main road and venture to the lively town of Rethymnon for a bit of city life. Pick up some souvenirs here or enjoy some sightseeing and explore the historic side of Crete. Alternatively, get out into the countryside and discover the “must see” beauty of Samaria Gorge where you can hike through the valleys of Crete to the beach of Agia Roumeli.

Food And Drink

Most of the bars and restaurants are based around the middle bay of Bali where most nights you’ll be lucky enough to enjoy dinner looking over the ocean. Take your pick from fresh seafood menus or fairy-light covered tavernas serving moussaka and then end your evening with a delicious cocktail by the beach. Expect a shot of Raki, Crete’s local liquor, to be brought as the dessert to your meal, although be warned – it’s quite strong!
