Overview

Krabi province includes many mainland and island destinations, with some of Thailand’s most dramatic scenery and beautiful beaches. Railay Beach and Ao Nang are the best-known mainland resorts, while offshore Lanta and Phi Phi are the most visited – Phi Phi island shot to popularity after being used as a filming location for Leonardo DiCaprio film ‘The Beach’. Krabi’s trademark feature is its limestone karsts, which rise dramatically from the sea.

Beaches

You can’t visit Krabi without going to Phra Nang beach in Ao Nang; it’s only accessible by longtail boat and has been voted one of the world’s most beautiful beaches for its karst scenery and ‘deserted island’ vibe. Railay Beach is another stunner, also accessible only by boat due to rocks cutting off overland access, and Ko Phi Phi’s coastline is a dreamy island paradise just waiting for you to dive into.

Outdoor Adventure

Krabi is a nature lover's heaven; venture a few miles away from the mainland coast and you will two find national parks of lush green forest and walking trails dotted with waterfalls and hidden caves. Ko Lanta has a marine park that’s great for scuba diving, and in the Klong Thom district, there’s a thermal spring where visitors can soak in naturally-formed pools of soothing hot water.

Things To Do

Phi Phi Island is perfect for island hopping – many of the tiny islands around Ko Phi Phi are completely uninhabited, so you can feel like you’re the first person ever to set foot on the golden sand beaches. Away from the beach, visit Krabi Town and venture out to Tiger Cave Temple, a famous hilltop temple reached via a huge flight of stairs and topped with a golden Buddha.
