Beach bliss

After landing, head straight for Hurghada’s golden beaches. Dive into thrilling watersports, lounge under a palm-tree parasol or snorkel from the beach into waters so clear that finding Nemo is easy. Whether it’s family fun on the beaches of Makadi Bay or soaking up the luxury at El Gouna’s beach resorts, the Red Sea Riviera delivers a slice of sandy paradise.

Dive in, the water’s fine!

Diving excursions in Hurghada transport you to an enchanting underwater world. Spot colourful coral reefs, hidden caves and WWII shipwrecks. You might even be treated to a surprise visit from a friendly sea turtle! Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a newbie, the Red Sea’s azure waters are a diver’s dream, offering fantastic visibility (perfect for underwater selfies) and thriving marine life.

Kitesurfing: Ride the Red Sea breeze

Kitesurfing in Hurghada is pure exhilaration! With steady winds and warm shallow waters, this is a kitesurf paradise. Head for Hurghada’s popular kitesurfing spots – Soma Bay, Lahami Bay and Magawish Island – if you want to try your hand at this popular activity.

From colourful spices and local dishes to basketware and hand-crafted souvenirs, El Dahar is perfect for spicing up your Hurghada holiday adventure.

Nightlife: Sunset beats through to early hours tunes

Raring to strut your stuff? Hurghada’s got parties that will keep you grooving till sunrise – so be sure to pack your dancing shoes! The Hurghada neighbourhood of El Mamsha is a nightlife hotspot, serving up everything from chill-out lounges to dance-till-dawn discos. The beachside Caribbean Bar is a must for sunset tunes, while The Tavern keeps the beats pumping into the early hours. For an evening of food and fun, visit Little Buddha for the sushi, and stay for the dance floor tunes.

Top beaches: Sandy Egyptian shores

Sahl Hasheesh Bay, around a 40-minute drive from Hurghada’s old town, is a snorkeller’s dream, with soft sands, iridescent waters and stunning coral reefs. For white-sand perfection with a splash of turquoise, hop on a speedboat from Hurghada to Giftun Island’s Mahmya Beach. Makadi Bay – around 50 minutes by road from Hurghada old town – is a family favourite, with shallow waters for little paddlers. The resort city of El Gouna, approximately 20 kilometres (12 miles) north of Hurghada, boasts watersports galore at Mangroovy Beach (yeah, baby!). For a chilled beach day, set sail from Hurghada Marina to the tropical paradise of Orange Bay, where white sands, snorkelling, and relaxation await.

Family friendly: Splash, safari and smiles

Hurghada is a treasure trove of fun for families. Visit the Hurghada Grand Aquarium, where little explorers can get up close with the Red Sea’s coolest residents. Or make a splash at the Pickalbatros Jungle Aqua Park Resort Neverland, plunging down one of its 81 water slides, floating down the lazy river and riding the wave pools. Want a taste of adventure? Book a desert safari with camel rides and dune bashing for the whole family.

When to go to Hurghada

Hurghada is a year-round gem for fun in the sun. Desperate for a winter escape? December to February offers mild sunny days – perfect for exploring without a raincoat or jumper. Spring and autumn (especially March to May and September to November) offer warm waters, pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds, which is ideal if you prefer a bit of elbow room on the beach.

For cheap Hurghada holidays, brave the summer scorch of June to August. Just dive into the shade with a cocktail and enjoy poolside relaxation, knowing you snagged a bargain.
