Holidays to Makadi Bay

Located on Egypt’s Red Sea Riviera, the purpose-built resort of Makadi Bay is fast becoming a favourite destination for Brits in search of the sun. With the town also close to other attractions, including the large city of Hurghada, people on holidaying here are sure to have a great time.

As with most destinations in this region, Makadi Bay can get extremely hot during the summer months, although being close to the Red Sea means that it is often less stifling than being further inland. It is also a great excuse for a swim and an ice cream (or ice lolly!). Temperatures are relatively mild in winter, but still warmer compared to back home, making it a great getaway during Britain’s colder months.

Activities

As you can tell from the name, the clear waters of the Red Sea feature heavily in Makadi Bay’s allure for European travellers. Diving here is enhanced by a large coral reef just offshore, which can also be enjoyed by snorkelers. Swimming along, you will be able to check out the colourful sea life and fascinating coral formations. Back on land, there are lots of opportunities to work on your tan thanks to the long sandy beach, which is perfect for sunbathing, that surrounds the whole bay. Many hotels and bars are located along the shoreline, so finding refreshments after your busy day of lounging around will not be a problem.

Nightlife

Makadi Bay is much more of a laid back resort, although that does not mean that it shuts down at night. For instance, most of the hotels will have their own bars, offering cocktails, beers and wines while you relax with friends and family. For a change of pace, try a night out in nearby Hurghada, which has a number of established nightclubs including a beachfront Ministry of Sound venue.

As with the bars, most of the restaurants in Makadi Bay are connected to the resort’s hotels, but that does not mean that choice will be limited. Many of these eateries will offer both European dishes and Egyptian cuisine, so you will be spoilt for choice. Outside of the restaurants, a number of establishments in the centre of the resort also feature dining options.

While in Egypt, why not look out for fatta on the menu. This rich mix of rice and fried bread, which is often covered in gravy and served with chunks of meat, is a particular delicacy that is often eaten around festival periods.

Where To Stay

From luxurious hotels to family resorts, those on cheap Makadi Bay holidays are certain to find accommodation that fits their budget and needs. This includes the Iberotel Makadi Beach, the Cleopatra Makadi Bay, and the Makadi Spa.
