Holidays to Costa Blanca

On Costa Blanca holidays, you get to lounge on some of Spain’s best beaches, relax at top resorts and party in buzzing bars. And they’re easy on the wallet, too!

Fly ‘n’ flop

Costa Blanca holidays are all about the beaches. Kick back in the sunshine, cool off in the Med and catch up on some R&R – preferably horizontal, under a parasol, with a cold one within arm’s reach.

Playa de San Juan in Alicante is one of the biggest beaches in the area – a gorgeous sandy stretch perfect for swimming, sunbathing and surfing. You’ll also find plenty of beachside bars here for keeping hydrated. It’s hard work being on holiday and all.

Benidorm bangers

Benidorm’s reputation as a European party capital is well deserved. From multi-floor clubs and sports bars to karaoke venues and classic British pubs, it’s got it all.

Kick off a night out in the old town with sangria and tapas for a bit of Spanish authenticity, then move on to chilled-out drinks at a beachfront bar. If you’re in the mood to go out out, hit up bouncing venues like the aptly named Insomnia Benidorm Nightclub.

History and culture

Should you crave a little cultural nourishment on your hols, swing by Museo Arqueológico de Alicante for a deep dive into the area’s history or hike up to the hilltop Castillo de Santa Bárbara for epic Alicante views from the chunky fortress walls.

Festivals are big on the White Coast too. One of the biggest is the Bonfires of San Juan in Alicante, which celebrates the arrival of summer with parades, daytime firework displays and artistic bonfires.

Rice, rice baby

There’s so much good grub local to Costa Blanca, but you’re seriously spoilt for choice if you’re partial to a bit of rice. There are loads of rice-based dishes to choose from here!

Given the seaside setting, it’s no surprise that seafood features in many a rice dish. Try arroz a banda, which is rice cooked with fish stock, and often topped with something from the sea. Simple but tasty!

The coast with the most

One of the best beaches in the area is Calpe’s Playa de la Fossa, with its restaurant-lined promenade and Pride Rock lookalike. Playa de les Marines in Denia, meanwhile, is a great shout for families – think calm waters and plenty of space on the long beach. Unsurprisingly, Benidorm’s Playa del Levante is buzzing. Its promenade is absolutely bursting with restaurants and bars. Neighbouring Playa del Poniente is just as handy if you’re staying in Benidorm, but way more chilled.

Clubs and pubs galore

Benidorm may be the party capital of Costa Blanca, but it’s not the only place for after-dark antics on this sun-drenched stretch of Spanish coastline. Torrevieja, for instance, throws awesome beach parties and is home to big clubs. Calpe has vibey beach bars that stay open until late (because not every night is a club night). And Alicante is great for rooftop bars with city views and cocktails, as well as Spanish pubs. El Barrio (the old town) is a top destination for a night out here.

Family-friendly adventures

Have the kids finally tired of building sandcastles or digging their way to Australia? You don’t have to go far to find your next adventure. Many of the beaches next to popular resorts (like Denia, Benidorm and Torrevieja) offer inflatable obstacle courses, banana boats and wakeboarding. If you fancy a day off the beach (unlikely, we know!), there are waterparks like Aqualandia in Benidorm, horseback tours along the coast and ziplining adventures at Tirolinas Go! in Alicante to keep you busy.

When to go to Costa Blanca

If your holiday is going to be centred around the beach, summer is your season (hello, crowds and sizzling temperatures!).

And while this destination gets incredibly busy during the summer months, cheap Costa Blanca holidays are still possible – you just need to compare deals and book in advance to secure a bargain.

May, June and October are great months to visit too. The weather is still decent (warm but not sizzling), which means it’s also a more pleasant time for exploring towns, hiking up to castles and the like.
