You can wander the cobbled streets of Kaleiçi, the old town, and peek into Suleiman the Magnificent’s magnificent 16th-century castle. A day trip to Kaunos brings myths and legends to life (almost!). These remains of an ancient city include an amphitheatre, rock tombs and temples dating back to 900 BC.

Sea-s the day!

You’ll definitely want to get out on the water in Marmaris. From boozy pirate cruises to romantic sunset sails and turtle snorkelling tours, you’ll feel like you’re floating in a blue lagoon cocktail (it’s not called the Turquoise Coast for nothing, you know!).

For a date with a difference, hop on a day cruise to Cleopatra Island – the soft white shores where, according to local legend, Mark Antony famously wooed the iconic queen.
