Panoramic view over Olu Deniz beach and lagoon in Turkey

Holidays to Olu Deniz

Make the most of the blingy delights of the Turquoise Coast on an Olu Deniz holiday, where you can enjoy sparkling lagoon swims, sun-drenched beach days and all-in resort indulgence!

Lagoon swoon

The Blue Lagoon is undoubtedly the star of Olu Deniz, with water so blue it looks photoshopped (good luck convincing your pals back home it’s not!).

Surrounded by verdant mountains and a national park, the spectacular spot has soft sands to laze on and refreshing water perfect for a dunk. There are plenty of cafés and facilities around too, so you can easily spend the whole day there.

Totally soar-some

Sea level getting you down? Go for a bird’s-eye view instead! Olu Deniz is a paragliding hub thanks to its jaw-dropping scenery and the handy launch pad of Mount Babadag.

Don’t worry, zero skill is required – from you at least! Strap in with a licenced pilot and let them do all the important stuff. Just sit back, enjoy the breeze and check out those stunning views.

Resort sorts

If you’re on the hunt for a fly-and-flop beach holiday, look no further. From adults-only to kid-friendly, budget B&Bs to fancy all-inclusives, there’s an Olu Deniz resort with your name on it.

Some hotels have private beach access – ideal if nothing beats real salt water – but if you prefer to spend the day by the pool, no probs! There’s usually more than one to pick from. Or kick your relaxation game up a notch with a Turkish spa treatment or two. It’s totally lush!

Turquoise Coast day trips

Keen to nosy around the neighbourhood? Olu Deniz holidays put you in easy reach of the rest of Turkey’s stunning Dalaman region (aka the Turquoise Coast).

Discover the country’s ancient sites, like the UNESCO-crowned 9th-century city of Kaunos, with its giant rock tombs carved into cliffs. You can also sink into a mud bath in Dalyan or white-water raft down the Dalaman River – both make for unforgettable holiday memories.

Golden sands and turquoise shores

As well as the Blue Lagoon, Olu Deniz has tons of beautiful beaches. Parasailers fly over Belcekiz Beach, a popular spot for sunbathing and watersports. For a more mellow vibe, head to Kidrak Beach, a stunner (you don’t get ‘Paradise Beach’ as a nickname for nothing) with basic facilities. Butterfly Valley Beach is only accessible via boat. There’s a little restaurant, but that’s it – this is a place for some solid R&R. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even camp overnight.

Seafood and kebabs on the menu

Seafood’s big in Olu Deniz. Tuck into calamari at a beach bar around the Blue Lagoon or order a whole baked sea bass at a restaurant overlooking Olu Deniz Beach. There’s no shortage of kebab shops either. Grab a lamb kebab in pitta or kebab meat topped with tomato ragu and cheese. Aniseed-flavoured raki is the traditional beverage in these parts, best served with water and ice. You’ll find it in any Turkish restaurant, along with the nation’s famous dessert, baklava.

Family-friendly beach fun

Olu Deniz is a great resort for kids. There are loads of hotels that cater to little ones with kids’ clubs, multiple pools and enough activities to fill the whole day. The beaches are safe, the water’s warm and the Blue Lagoon is calm and clear, ideal for a few hours of splish-splashing. There are paddleboards and kayaks to hire too. For a change of scenery, catch the cable car up Mount Babadag, where daring tykes can try out tandem paragliding.

When to go to Olu Deniz

With sunny weather most of the year, you can travel to Olu Deniz pretty much whenever! However, summer is scorchio, and is predictably the busiest time of the year, with packed beaches and bars.

Spring and autumn are great alternatives, with milder but still warm conditions. And you’ll have a bit more space on the beaches, especially around the Blue Lagoon.

The best time for cheap Olu Deniz holidays is winter. While it might not be true beach weather with some places closing for the season, it’s ideal if you’re in the market for a bargain resort break.
