Holidays to Cala Bona

Chilled out and fuss-free, holidays to Cala Bona promise plenty of Spanish sun, sea and sand – and a hearty dose of Majorcan island adventure too.

Embrace your seafaring Spaniard

With a name like Cala Bona (‘Good Bay’ in Spanish), it’s no surprise that the town has all your sun-worshipping needs well and truly covered. But that’s not all. When you hit your vitamin D quota for the day, the island’s waters await.

Grab a snorkel and see what the warm waters of the Med have to offer, or hop on a boat at the harbour to explore otherwise unreachable bays beyond the resort. Highlights include Cala Varques, where you’ll find bright blue waters, quiet sands and little else. Or, tank up at the diving centre to plumb the depths of Pirate Cave.

Greet the great outdoors

Carefree wandering under the Spanish sun is by far the best way to see Cala Bona at its beautiful best. You can also take it easy with a stroll around Sa Punta de n’Amer nature reserve. Hop up Castell de n'Amer while you’re there for a bite to eat and a look back across the Balearics.

For a more active day out during your Cala Bona holiday, hire some bikes and hit the Via Verde (Green Way) cycle path. What was once an old railway line is now a lush trail that takes you away from the coast and into, well, greener pastures!

Get in the swing of it

Whoever said golf is a good walk spoiled had clearly never seen the greens around Cala Bona.

One of the best courses nearby is Son Servera, which sits amid an abundance of pine, oak, carob and olive trees. Pros will love holes 3–7, aka The Pine Trap – but be warned, it’s not easy. Elsewhere, there’s the Pula Golf Resort, where you can tee off in the hack marks of your heroes on a PGA European Tour course, or practice your swing in the driving range.

Get a dose of vitamin sea

Cala Bona’s super accessible main beach has everything you need. On the bright, Blue Flag sands, you’ll find changing huts and plenty of space to lay your towel, while you’re also conveniently close to the bars, cafes and shops of the port. Follow the shoreline and you’ll soon reach Cala Bona’s bigger sister, Cala Millor. Expect similar sun, sea and sand vibes, plus jet-skis, banana boats, windsurfers, parasailers and more ways to take a face full of the Med.

Family fun in the Balearic sun

Family holidays to Cala Bona deliver good times by the bucketload. On the beach break side, the resort’s main stretch of sand is an easy go-to. For a slight change of scenery, head to Cala Millor, where your mini-mes can take their pick from a multitude of watersports. Away from the coast, Fantasy Park serves up bungee trampolines, inflatable playgrounds and go-karting, while Rancho Willy offers a horseback tour of the Majorcan coast.

Spanish Mediterranean deliciousness

Whether you’re hungry for fresh seafood, Spanish classics, international cuisine, or kid-friendly bites, you’re always a stone’s throw away from somewhere tasty in Cala Bona. Hit up Restaurant Peperoncino for a modern take on the traditional, Janet and Johns for fish as fresh as it gets or Indian Taj Tandoori Restaurant & Bar for a curry fix. If it’s drinks you’re after, you’ll find plenty of watering holes in both Cala Bona and Cala Millor, from the Waterfront Bar to the Gecko Cocktail Bar.

When to go to Cala Bona

To experience Cala Bona’s sunshine at its glorious best, fly in and flop by the pool in July or August, when summer temperatures usually hit the 30C mark.

For better rates, no less sunshine (but slightly lower temps) and, of course, fewer tourists, book a Cala Bona holiday on either side of the peak season. April, May, June, September or October are your best bet for cheaper flights, ample accommodation and temperatures firmly in the 20s.

If you’re hankering after some winter sun and keen on escaping to a charming, quiet stretch of Balearic Island beauty, Cala Bona has your back. Even though it’s low-season, you can expect temperatures in the mid-teens from November right through to March out here.
