A Spanish summers day with boats sailing on the deep blue sea

Holidays to Palma Nova

On Palma Nova holidays, enjoy the natural beauty and family-friendly attractions of this purpose-built white-sand resort, which is sandwiched between Majorca’s vibey capital and its liveliest party town.

Just for you

Why do we love purpose-built resorts? Well, they’re literally designed to deliver the best holiday ever! From mini golf to margaritas and so much more, everything you need for the perfect fuss-free break can be found within a stone’s throw.

And Palma Nova doesn’t disappoint. Set around three stunning white beaches, just minutes from the resort town’s all-inclusive hotels, it’s home to a promenade lined with restaurants and bars and your pick of summery activities.

Palma day trips

One of the best things about Palma Nova is its close proximity to Majorca’s charming capital, Palma, which lies a 20-or-so minute drive up the road. Culture? Sí! History? Sí! Delectable Spanish cuisine? Sí!

Check out the 13th-century Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma (or La Seu), with all its gothic drama, as well as the 14th-century Royal Palace of La Almudaina, before tucking into a paella at one of the restaurants in buzzy Santa Catalina. If you’re heading in after dark, hit up Paseo Marítimo for salsa bars, pubs and clubs.

Lively neighbours

There’s a solid nightlife scene in Palma Nova, but nothing compares to Magaluf – Majorca’s attention-grabbing party capital. Hit its legendary strip for all-nighters at BCM Mallorca, or head to Galaxy Magaluf, where international DJs play until 4am

A ten-minute drive from Palma Nova, Magaluf is close enough to taxi in and out whenever you want, but far enough to allow for some peace and quiet.

Sea it all

For holidays that are all about that vitamin sea (#smirkingfaceemoji), you’ve come to the right place. The waters of Palma Nova are shallow, clear and still – aka ideal for kid-friendly splish-splashing, as well as a serene swim.

Hop on board a catamaran for a half-day cruise around the coast with lunch to boot. There’s also snorkelling, scuba diving, paddleboarding and pedalos available. Alternatively, opt for jet skiing or parasailing to get the heart racing!

Top beaches: Triple trouble

Palma Nova has three main beaches and they’re all Blue Flag beauties. Playa Palma Nova, the middle beach, is a strip of white sand with pine trees for natural shade. The smaller Playa Es Carregador is next to the marina, while Son Matías is closest to Magaluf. All three are ideal for swimming, while on the sand there’s volleyball and plenty of beach bars to keep you hydrated! Watersports are usually booked on the larger two beaches.

Nightlife: Beach by day, beats by night

Although not as raucous as Magaluf, Palma Nova holds its own after dark. There are loads of bars around the beachfront for sundowners and after-dinner cocktails (or day drinks – you’re on holiday after all!). For dancing, Banana Joe’s Disco Bar gets rave reviews, while the Prince William Pub, open until 4am, is a local institution. Fair warning: karaoke is big here! If you’re in the mood for a massive one, the mega clubs of Magaluf are a quick taxi ride or half-hour walk away.

Family-friendly: Entertainment central

Palma Nova is a fab spot for family holidays, with plenty to keep the whole crew happy. Katmandu Park is one of Majorca’s best theme parks with 4D adventures, Wild West shoot-outs, mini golf and a splash park. You’ll want to leave your whole day open for this one! After an afternoon spent splashing in the sea and slinging sand on the beach, buckle up for an evening of acrobatics, dance and theatre at Magaluf’s Pirates Adventure Dinner Show – something to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters!

When to go to Palma Nova

Summer is when it all happens in Palma Nova. At this time of year, the weather is at its hottest and driest, perfect for seemingly endless days on the beach. It’s also the busiest time of year, especially around the school summer holidays.

As for cheap Palma Nova holidays, take a look at the shoulder months or book as early as you can (after comparing deals, of course). In May, late September, and early October the weather is often pleasant, the crowds are smaller, and you should get a little more bang for your buck.
