From kicking back on the beach and dancing the night away to trekking through dramatic volcanic landscapes and exploring sweeping national parks, Costa Adeje holidays give you all of Tenerife’s best bits.
Costa Adeje’s natural beauty is on full display at the Barranco del Infierno protected natural area. Granted, Hell’s Gorge sounds scary, but the valley views, trickling streams, and fairytale waterfalls are positively heavenly. Book your visit a few days in advance.
Elsewhere, climb Spain’s highest mountain (and active volcano), El Teide. The pine forests of the lower slopes turn into a vast lava desert with unusual formations as you ascend. Unless you have a permit, once you reach the upper station at 3,555m you’ll need to take a cable car to the peak. Or, swerve the calf pain altogether by getting a cable car the whole way up.
On Costa Adeje holidays, there are endless opportunities to embrace the big blue. Take a boat trip to the Teno-Rasca Special Area of Conservation for some dolphin and whale spotting. Magical! Then boost your heart rate on a jet ski or wakeboard, join a PADI course to swim with butterfly rays – or stay in the shallows with a snorkel. Visit Playa del Puertito – a quiet cove teeming with turtles – or hop on Amarilla Harbour’s Submarine Safari expedition to visit creatures who live deeper down.
We’re talking top-notch Spanish tapas and wholesome Canarian classics. Try papas con mojo picón (little roast potatoes with spicy sauce) and rabbit in a super-fragrant salmorejo sauce. As you’d expect, fresh seafood is readily available, with popular dishes including mussels, sea bass and octopus. When it comes to meat, pork is a local favourite.
Costa Adeje once served as capital of the ancient Guanche kingdom, and Tenerife is home to several sites where you can explore this pre-colonial culture. Visit the MUNA museum in Santa Cruz (the island’s most important museum for Guanche history) before taking a tour of Cueva del Viento, a vast volcanic lava tube once used for shelter. In the nearby town of Adeje, discover the 16th-century Church of Saint Ursula, and the fortified house of Casa Fuerte – once a powerful economic centre, built in 1555.
This tranquil little corner of the Canary Islands is abundant in luxury spas, holistic treatments and sweeping ocean views. Soothe your soul with a massage at Aequor Spa, feel the bliss of a facial at Bio-Spa or simply pop into any upmarket hotel for a little R&R retreat.

Heat-seekers unite for the sweltering summer months (between May and September). At this time of year, Costa Adeje’s promenades are abuzz and its nights out are at their liveliest.
From February to April, bask in the comfortable high teens or low 20s — an elite time for both sunbathing and hiking the Barranco del Infierno. Winter is also a solid option for much-needed Costa Adeje holidays — it’s less busy but remains significantly warmer than back home.
Keen for crazy clear star gazing? View the heavens during a late-night tour at the Tenerife Observatory, which sits inland from Costa Adeje. Incredible views all year round!
