Holidays to Los Cristianos

Sun-drenched all year round – and with prime position on Tenerife’s dazzling southern shores – holidays to Los Cristianos promise Canary Island brilliance whenever you need it.

Go cray-cray in the bay-bays

With bright golden sands, warm welcoming waters and plenty of space for your biggest towel, the beaches in and around Los Cristianos will knock your sliders off.

There’s a lot of fun to be had out on the water too. In nearby Playa de las Vistas, you can take your pick from jet-skis, wakeboards and pretty much anything else that flings, flies or floats. Alternatively, hop on a boat for a thrilling whale- or dolphin-watching trip out at sea.

Live life like a local

Holidays to Los Cristianos may well be all about lazy beach days and poolside siestas, but you’d be doing yourself a disservice if you didn’t potter about the town. It’s got bags of local charm! Take your Spanish phrasebook to the old town and sip strong coffee by the harbour, tuck into tapas in a back street café and down a refreshing cerveza – all al fresco, of course.

If you really want to go native, make your way to Los Cristianos market and don’t be afraid to haggle. If your Duolingo streak is on fire, you should walk away with a treasure trove of holiday gifts.

Do it like a day tripper

Is it worth giving up some of your beach time for day trips to explore Tenerife? You can bet your best factor 50 it is! Take nearby Costa Adeje, where you can potter about shops, explore underwater volcanic seascapes and get wet and wild at Siam Park – the “number one waterpark in the world ten years in a row”, as they humbly remind us!

If you need a little more nature in your life, get on over to El Medano. As beautiful as it is boho, you can scale Montana Roja, kitesurf your way across unspoiled sands and cool off in the Cave-Shrine of Santo Hermano Pedro.

Beach time sands nice!

Los Cristianos Beach is practically begging to be siesta’d on, so grab a sun-lounger and settle down for a snooze. Once you’ve awoken from your holi-daze, take a paddle in the beach’s Atlantic shallows or pick a spot at one of its uber-cool cafes.

Another playa worth paying attention to is Las Vistas. It’s a Blue Flag beauty with a buzzing boulevard of shops, restaurants and sangria hotspots. There are plenty of watersports here too.

Food that’s an easy ten out of Ten-erife

Bonafide foodies will love embracing all things Canarian on a Los Cristianos holiday – think wrinkly papas arrugadas potatoes, puchero canario stews and ropa vieja (a mix of meat, beans, potatoes and more). Seafood, of course, is everywhere. Restaurants serving up traditional fare include Sal Negra, Pa'Lante, Pescaito Los Cristianos and El Ventorrillo. Zoco Concept Restaurant does things a little differently, specialising in Arabic cuisine with dishes that range from prawn skewer starters to beef tagines.

Party by the playas by night

Los Cristianos has plenty of drinking holes to light up most evenings. For a proper party vibe, Casablanca disco bar is the place to be. But if it’s bar hopping you want, head to the El Mirador strip to sip beers in Taylors Lounge or cocktails at The Vault. For more buzz, hop in a taxi and make your way to the bright lights of Veronica’s Strip in Playa de las Americas. Here you’ll find bars-slash-clubs like Jumping Jacks, Yordy’s and Oasis. A night out in Costa Adeje is also well worth the effort.

When to go to Los Cristianos

The best time for holidays to Los Cristianos in Tenerife? Anytime you fancy. That’s the beauty of a Canary Island getaway. That said, if you want the beaches at their scorching best, aim for late June, July, August or early September. You can expect temperatures in the mid-to-high 20Cs with blue skies as far as the eye can see.

To break loose from the grey winter months back home, book your Los Cristianos holiday anytime between November and March. The sun may not be at its sweltering, swaggering best, but with temperatures hovering between the mid-teens and 20s, it easily beats the freezing winter weather back in Blighty.

The best times for sunbathing and money-saving are May, early June, late September and October. With temperatures comfortably in the 20Cs, there’s plenty of beach weather to enjoy, but prices are a bit lower during these shoulder seasons.
