Black, pebbly volcanic beaches are the order of the day on a Las Caletillas holiday. The local stretch here is Playa de las Caletas, perfect for when you want a quick, quiet blast of Spanish sunshine. Slightly north, there’s Playa de Cho Víto, where a black pebble cove delivers serene coastal wilderness. And, slightly south, you have the black sands of Playa de Las Arenas and Playa de Punta Larga to choose from. If you’re in the mood for a classic golden sand beach day, no problem. You’re just a half-hour drive from the swaying palms of family-friendly Playa de las Teresitas.
Food and drink: Seafood delights and tapas bites
From fresh seafood to authentic tapas, Las Caletillas serves up simple, tasty dishes throughout the day. Popular picks for a bite around here include Las Ruedas Comida Canaria, La Morenita de Caletillas and Taberna O Caminero. When you’re craving more flavours, head to nearby Santa Cruz, where there’s plenty for every kind of tastebud. Tenerife dishes out supercharged sunshine all year round, with Las Caletillas holidays guaranteeing hot summers and warm winters. If you're all about living that volcanic beach life, June to September are your go-to months, with temperatures in the high 20s and low 30s.
If you’re keen to save a few pennies and swap grey clouds and rain for fluffy clouds and winter sun, head to Las Caletillas between December and February. The weather's still a sunny delight (around 18C to 22C) and there’s still plenty to see and do. One highlight in February is the Carnival of Santa Cruz, a riot of colour, costumes and entertainment.
You can also bag bargains on flights and accommodation during the shoulder season months of April and May and October and November. Expect mid-20s temperatures and even more relaxed vibes.
