Mauritius Sunshine in October? Follow the sun to Mauritius!

The British summer is definitely over – we’ve swapped t-shirts for sweatshirts, sandals for sneakers and it’s only a matter of time before we’re breaking out the winter coat.

Fear not though, there’s still plenty of autumn and winter sun around if you know where to find it – even in Europe!

Try one of these holiday favourites for a dose of sunshine this October.

Costa Almeria, Spain

As one of the sunniest areas in mainland Spain, sun-worshippers will feel right at home in Costa Almeria! With average daytime temperatures hovering in the low 20s, beach breaks are still on the cards, even in October – win. Head to the lively resorts of Roquetas de Mar, Mojacar or Aguadulce to find the best stretches of sand.

Almeria itself is a great place for Spanish culture with an old Arab fortress and a bustling central avenue filled with shops and street cafés. Or if you’re looking to jam-pack your itinerary with activities, head to Cabo de Gata Natural Park for hiking, kayaking and horse-riding.

Antalya, Turkey

Average temperature: 23°C

Flight time: 4 hours

The sun continues to shine on Turkey’s Turquoise Coast well into October and Antalya is one of the best places to enjoy it. Whether you’re seeking an action-packed family break or a relaxing all-inclusive getaway, this well-loved resort has the lot!

Discover Turkish history with a stroll around Antalya’s old town, relax in a traditional hammam, haggle for souvenirs at colourful bazaars or try street food staples such as köftes, kebabs and baklava.

End your day watching the sun set from one of Antalya’s dreamy beaches – Lara is a firm fave.
